To address the evolving demands of the rapidly growing EC market, StockCrew aimed to establish a next-generation logistics center optimized for E-Commerce fulfillment. They introduced Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) to revolutionize their warehouse management, achieving full automation of order placement operations.
Currently, StockCrew utilizes over 100 Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) at their primary logistics facility, Chiba Dock, which spans 10,000 square meters. The implementation of AMRs has significantly reduced employee travel distances, enhanced operational efficiency, and improved workplace conditions.
As the E-Commerce world grew, StockCrew faced some big challenges:
To solve these problems, StockCrew needed an automation solution that was scalable, flexible, and easy to implement to boost their logistics operations.
To revolutionize their warehouse operations, StockCrew adopted Syrius Technology’s Order-to-Person Pick System, a comprehensive solution combining autonomous robots, intelligent software, and flexible connectivity.
At the core of this system are the FlexSwift MAX AMRs, high-performance autonomous mobile robots designed to assist human operators by transporting multi-compartment containers. These AMRs dynamically guide operators through picking and put-away tasks, minimizing walking distances and accelerating operations.
With Syrius Technology’s Order-to-Person system, StockCrew transformed traditional, labor-intensive picking into an efficient, operator-friendly workflow. The system allows dynamic zone-based picking, cuts travel times, enhances inventory turnover, improves operational accuracy, and enables seamless adaptation to layout changes—all crucial for fast-moving EC fulfillment operations.
By simply adjusting software parameters and scaling AMR fleets, StockCrew can now rapidly respond to seasonal peaks and changing customer demands without major operational disruptions.
Although the container sizes are standardized, dividers are inserted inside the containers to create multiple types, such as 2-compartment, 4-compartment, up to 12-compartment containers.
Depending on the number of items in a B2C order, different types of containers are selected.
FlexGalaxy.AI groups orders that require the same type of container into a single task and dispatches them to the AMRs.
Through this method, StockCrew implemented multi-order picking with real-time sorting during picking, greatly improving operational efficiency.
Guided by the intuitive tablet interface, the operator moves swiftly through the picking area. As they reach the next location, the tablet displays the item to pick. The operator picks up the item, scans its barcode with a handheld scanner connected to the system, and instantly receives feedback.
At that moment, the AMR silently verifies the action: confirming if the correct item has been picked and if the required quantity is sufficient. A subtle notification appears on the tablet—either a green light for "correct" or an alert prompting the operator if there’s a mistake.
In this smooth, synchronized flow between the operator and the AMR, errors are caught immediately, ensuring that every pick is fast, accurate, and reliable, all while keeping the operator in constant motion without unnecessary steps.
By using Syrius Technology’s Order-to-Person Pick System, StockCrew greatly improved its logistics. The AMRs allowed for flexible picking, real-time sorting, and quick scaling without major infrastructure changes. StockCrew cut down on staff walking distances, boosted picking accuracy, quickly adjusted layouts, and easily expanded operations during busy times. Worker conditions got better, costs went down, and customer satisfaction increased with faster and more reliable order fulfillment.
100 units of AMRs deployed
Shipping costs reduced by 40% to 50%.
Operations now require only 10 to 20 people, down from 80.
Where are we now
Today, StockCrew runs 100 AMRs through a 5-year Robotics as a Service (RaaS) deal. Using Syrius Technology’s advanced Order-to-Person Pick System, they enhance their operations with multi-order picking, real-time task management, and ongoing process improvements to keep up with the fast-changing e-commerce logistics needs. Their E-Commerce fulfillment centers are flexible and ready to grow with the increasing demands of the EC market.
